How to cite JobMarketHealth data

What JobMarketHealth publishes

JobMarketHealth does not republish government statistics as its own. It combines published government data to create original derived labor-market indicators, with the underlying sources, transformations and vintages disclosed. The derived measures are:

• the composite 0 to 100 Job Market Health score and its three components, which are national and occupation level;
• the occupation-weighted state industry context, which weights BLS QCEW industry figures by an occupation’s published industry mix;
• the dated release statistics published on release and insight pages.

What must be attributed to the original agency

Employment, wage, openings, establishment and projection statistics remain the work of their publishers: the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (JOLTS, CES, OEWS, QCEW, Employment Projections) and O*NET. Cite the agency for those figures, and JobMarketHealth for the derived indicator built from them. Every page carries an evidence record at the#evidence-record anchor listing the exact periods, vintages and methodology version behind its numbers.

Include the period and methodology version

Derived values are tied to a reference period and a methodology version, and revisions to the source data produce restated values. Where possible include both, as the examples above do, so a reader can reproduce exactly what you cited. Dated release pages exist for that purpose: their figures are frozen at generation and are never recomputed from newer inputs.

Market signals context

Where a state page shows WARN notices or an employment news pulse, those are statewide context and are not part of any score. Cite the state workforce agency for WARN notices and the news publisher for individual stories; cite JobMarketHealth only for the summary counts and the classification method described in the methodology.
