Independence
JobMarketHealth.com is an independent research site operated by Local Focus Media LLC. It is not a government website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by the United States government, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. Department of Labor or its Employment and Training Administration, the Census Bureau, or any other agency whose data we cite. Agency names and program names are used only to identify the source of a statistic.
Source statistics versus our analysis
The underlying statistics are published by federal statistical agencies. Everything we build on top of them is ours: the composite Job Market Health score, its components, bands, trends, rankings and comparisons, and all written interpretation and explanation. Those derived elements are our analysis, not official statistics, and no agency has reviewed or approved them. The methodology page sets out exactly how the score is calculated.
Scores are informational
A Job Market Health score is an informational indicator. It is not a forecast, a prediction, a rating of any employer, or a guarantee of anything. It should not be the sole basis for a career, relocation, compensation, education, hiring, or investment decision. Reasonable people can weigh the same published data differently.
Timing, revisions, and classification limits
- Labor data lags. A monthly release describes a reference period that has already passed, and annual series can be a year or more behind current conditions.
- Data gets revised. Agencies restate prior figures, which can change a score after it was first published. We keep both the originally published and restated values.
- Some values are estimated by the publishing agency, or suppressed for confidentiality or reliability reasons. Where a value is not published, we say so rather than filling the gap.
- Occupation, industry, and geographic classifications are statistical categories. The category that matches a specific job title, employer, or posting may differ from the one used in the data.
- Projected annual openings from long-term projections are modeled averages over a projection horizon. They are not currently advertised or available job openings.
No guarantee of employment or job availability
Nothing on this site guarantees that any employer is hiring, that any job exists, that any wage will be offered, or that you will receive an interview or an offer. We do not list jobs and we do not represent employers or candidates.
Not a consumer reporting agency
JobMarketHealth is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and this site does not provide consumer reports or consumer information. The content here is aggregate, occupation-level market information and is not about any individual. It must not be used, in whole or in part, to make decisions about a specific person's eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, housing, tenancy, education, or any other purpose covered by that Act or by similar state law. We do not screen, evaluate, or rank individuals.
Bureau of Labor Statistics notice
Some statistics shown on this site are retrieved from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, including through its public data services. BLS.gov cannot vouch for the data or analyses derived from these data after the data have been retrieved from BLS.gov. The Bureau of Labor Statistics does not sponsor or endorse JobMarketHealth, and our organization, derivation, and interpretation of BLS data are our own. Where the product exposes the specific release and retrieval or import dates behind a figure, those are shown on the page so you can check how current the number is.

Census Bureau datasets
Census Bureau datasets such as the American Community Survey, County Business Patterns, and Business Dynamics Statistics are listed on this site as planned sources only. They are not ingested today, nothing shown here is derived from them, and they do not affect any score. If they become active, their required notices will be added at that time.
