Largest differences from the U.S. benchmark
Difference = the state occupation-weighted industry employment change minus the same measure computed on the national benchmark, in percentage points, from the published operands. A larger positive difference means the industries employing that occupation grew faster in that state than nationally over the same period. It is not a ranking of states and not a state score.

Derivation and caveats
Derived by JobMarketHealth from BLS QCEW and each occupation’s published industry mix. QCEW reports employment, wages and establishment counts by industry, not by occupation. These figures are occupation-weighted industry context: they are not direct occupation employment, not a count of current job openings, and not part of the national 0 to 100 Job Market Health score. No state-level score is published anywhere on this site.
- Provenance
- Every occupation-state record recorded green in the committed source-verification evidence was re-read once from the public read-only QCEW context endpoint, and included only when the SHA-256 hash of its canonical payload matched the audited record exactly. Figures are occupation-weighted industry context derived by JobMarketHealth from BLS QCEW and published occupation industry mix; they are not occupation employment counts, job-opening counts or a state health score. Values can be restated when BLS revises QCEW.
