Current Demand versus Long-Term Outlook
The Job Market Health score combines a near-term demand measure with a long-term projection measure. This page shows, for every occupation with both components published, how far apart the two horizons are.
Definitions
- Gap
- Current Demand component minus Long-Term Outlook component, in score points. Positive means the near-term measure is higher than the long-term measure; negative means the long-term measure is higher. Neither is better: they describe different horizons and carry different weights in the composite score.
- Comparability
- Occupations missing either component are excluded rather than treated as zero, so the denominator here is 754.
- Distribution
- 316 occupations have Current Demand above Long-Term Outlook, 428 below and 10 equal.
All comparable occupations, largest positive gap first
754 occupations shown.
Provenance
Every figure comes from the frozen National Job Market Health release, July 2026. Components are JobMarketHealth derived indicators built from published BLS JOLTS, CES and Employment Projections data; see the methodology, data sources and how to cite.
